Short Itinerary

Trekking in Mardi Himal Nepal offers some of the best undiscovered Annapurna landscapes. You can explore the scenic beauty of iconic mountains such as Machapuchare (also known as the "Fish Tail Mountain"), Dhaulagiri, Annapurna, and Manaslu. After an hour's drive from Pokhara, our journey begins in Kande. Following the winding trail to Mardi Himal Base Camp, you will pass through magnificent rhododendron forests, rice terraces, rivers and streams, Jhinu hot springs, and Ghandruk villages.

  • It is less crowded, providing a peaceful trekking experience.
  • Cultural immersion in Gurung and Magar villages.
  • Stunning Mardi Himal and Machapuchare Base Camp experience.
  • Diverse accommodation options - teahouses and camping.
  • Off the beaten path, away from commercialized routes.
  • It is a perfect blend of adventure and solitude in the Himalayan wilderness.

Best Time To Trek In Mardi Himal Trek

The finest seasons to hike in the Mardi Himal region are the pre-monsoon (spring) and post-monsoon (fall), generally lasting from late February to early June and September to November, respectively. The pathways are alive in spring with blossoming rhododendrons, making the scenery colorful and lovely.

The weather is typically consistent, with clear skies allowing superb viewing of the neighboring peaks. Temperatures are mild, making for pleasant daytime hiking conditions; however, evenings may be more relaxed at higher elevations. This is also the best time to go climbing because rain is less possible.

From September to November, the weather is dry and steady, providing beautiful sky and breathtaking vistas of the Himalayan peaks. The weather is also ideal for trekking, with pleasant days and chilly evenings. The paths are in excellent shape, and the post-monsoon season has left the sceneries lush and verdant.

This is the peak trekking season in Nepal, with many trekkers seeking ideal weather and spectacular landscapes. It is crucial to remember that the winter (December to February) and monsoon (June to August) seasons are less desirable owing to harsh weather and higher hazards of avalanches and landslides.

Mardi Himal Trek Distance

The Mardi Himal Trek covers an approximate total distance of 40–45 kilometers (25–28 miles), depending on the starting and ending points of the trek. The journey typically begins from Kande or Phedi after a short drive from Pokhara and ends at Siding or Lumre, passing through forested trails, high ridges, and alpine landscapes.

On average, trekkers walk 5–8 hours per day, covering 6–10 kilometers daily, making the distance manageable for trekkers with a reasonable level of fitness. Despite being shorter than many classic Himalayan treks, the Mardi Himal Trek feels rewarding due to its gradual altitude gain and close-up mountain views.
