Manaslu Trekking Permit Requirements and Fees 2026/2027

The Manaslu trekking permit requires four main permissions because the trail is located in the restricted area of the Manaslu Conservation Area, which shares borders with Tibet. The required permits are:

Manaslu Restricted Area Permit (RAP)

All trekkers are required to have a Manaslu Restricted region Permit before accessing the restricted region. You will need to show the permit at each checkpoint along the way to the hike. You can get this permit at the Tourism Board Office in Kathmandu. The fee varies depending on the trekking season.

The cost in September – November is USD 100 per person / week and USD 15 per person / day (beyond 1 week). The cost from December to August is USD 75 per person / week and USD 10 per person / day (beyond 1 week).

Manaslu Conservation Area Permit (MCAP)

The Manaslu Conservation Area Permit (MCAP) is another permit required for trekking in the Manaslu region. This permission must also be shown at numerous checkpoints before entering the conservation area.

These licenses can be obtained from the Tourism Office in Kathmandu or the Gorkha District Office. Foreigners pay $15, whereas citizens of SAARC countries pay $10.

Annapurna Conservation Area Permit (ACAP)

The Annapurna Conservation Area Permit (ACAP) is another essential permit required for trekking in the Manaslu region. While the ACAP is primarily used for the Annapurna Circuit and Base Camp treks, it is also necessary for parts of the Manaslu trail that overlap with the Annapurna Conservation Area, including the final and some section of the trek. Trekkers Information Management System permit (TIMS)

The Trekkers Information Management System permit (TIMS) is another permit required to enter the Manaslu base camp walk, as it is necessary for trekkers' safety. This permit keeps trekkers' records and assists them in case of emergency evacuation. Foreigners must pay $20 for the permit, while SAARC members pay $10.

The best time to do the Manaslu trekking in Nepal is in the autumn (September to November) and spring (March to May), when the flowers blossom and the skies are bright, providing breathtaking views of the peaks.

Day 1

Arrival in Kathmandu Valley

We welcome you to the capital city of Nepal, “Kathmandu.”Our staff will pick you up at the airport and take you to your Hotel on Thamel's bustling street.

After arriving at your hotel, you can relax for a while. In the evening, we will meet at our office and assign you a guide who will accompany you throughout the walk. We will also provide a welcome supper from our side for you at the Nepali authentic dining location, or you can choose the cuisine according to your wish.

We will also enjoy Nepali music and dances while eating dinner. After dinner, you can go around Thamel to prepare for the trek. Be sure to pack light and smartly.

Day 2

Drive from Kathmandu to Jagat

Early in the morning, we'll drive to Jagat, a small village in Nepal's Gorkha district that serves as the starting point for the Manaslu Circuit Trek, and Manaslu Base Camp Trek. Jagat is a small village known for its tall peaks and lush green trees along the Buddhi Gandaki River.

The distance between Kathmandu to Jagat is 205 kilometers and will take roughly 8 hours to drive. You will pass through numerous places along the road, including Dhading. Every stop along the journey offers a view of the countryside and verdant woodlands.

On the route, you will see terraced fields, the Budhi Gandaki River until the end of the trek. Throughout the excursion, you will see the locals' way of life and Dhawa (hotels or restaurants that serve native foods and flavors). When you get to Jagat, check into your hotel and spend the night relaxing.

Day 3

Trek from Jagat to Nyak

Today After breakfast we will start our trek Nyak Village in Gorkha District. Nyak offers beautiful views of the Budhi Gandaki river valley. Surrounded by forests, waterfalls, and cliffside trails.

Today you will pass the beautiful villages salleri, sirdibas, Nagjet, Philim and reach Nyak by hiking around 13km. Many trekking agency takes directly to Deng but as per our experience we suggest to rest here at Nyak, as we have travelled long route on vehicle from Kathmandu to Jagat on Previous day. So, starting will small walk will make your body strong and acclimatize for hiking in the Himalayas too. But, We can hike one more station towards Deng if you don't feel tired.

Day 4

Trek from Nyak to Namrung

Early in the morning, we will have Nepali breakfast rest for some time, and start our climb to Namrung. A small village in the Manaslu region is notable for its traditional stone buildings and Buddhist monasteries. The distance between Nyak to Namrung is 7 km which will take around 3/4 hours to reach. We will hike through lush green forests, across suspension bridges and water streams. During the trek, you will see mani walls and little chortens strewn along the pathways. 

As we ascend higher, you will notice that the trail becomes more rugged. We will also enjoy the breathtaking views from the Shringi Himal. As we approach Namrung, we will witness that the village is looking fantastic with the views of Ganesh Himal and  Manaslu Himal serving as the backdrop. Namrung hamlet is also recognized as the region's cultural hub, where hikers may learn about Tibetan traditions.

Day 5

Trek from Namrung to Syalla

We will depart for Syalla early in the morning, following a traditional Nepali breakfast. The distance between Namrung to Shyala village is 11km which will take around 4 to 6 hours to complete the trek. A small, tranquil, and picturesque settlement with breathtaking views of snow-capped mountains such as Manaslu North and Naike Peak. We will pass via small settlements such as Lihi and Sho.

We'll pass small traditional stone dwellings and prayer wheels that depict Tibetan Buddhist culture. There are no freeways, therefore you will see terraced farms with yaks grazing and donkeys and horses carrying the burden. Local quaint tea houses will provide a comfortable location for hikers to relax. The hike will involve a difficult rise through lush green trees and water streams.

Day 6

Trek from Syalla to Sama Gaun

We will leave for Samagaun early in the morning, after breakfast. The distance between Shyala to Samagaun is 13km which can be completed in 6 to 8 hours. Samagaun is the highest settlement in the Manaslu area. Samagaun is famous for its breathtaking views of the beautiful Himalayan peaks and traditional homes. It is also known for the Birendra Taal, a lake produced by the melting glaciers of the Manaslu peak.

We will gradually ascend through lush green rhododendron woods, which are Nepal's national flower. We'll hike through lush green forests, flowing waterfalls, and terraced farmlands. When you arrive at Sama Gaun, take some time to rest and relax. In the evening, we will embark on a hike throughout the area and examine each location. We’ll chat with the locals and we'll learn about the inhabitants and spend time in nature.

Day 7

Trek from Sama Gaun to Samdo

Early in the morning, after seeing the sunrise on Manaslu Peak. We will eat breakfast at the Overlook restaurant while enjoying a tasty local breakfast. Following that, we will begin our walk to Samdo. The distance between Sama gaun to Samdo is 8 km which can be completed in 6 to 8 hours. A little town above the clouds is famed for its pure beauty, and it is located at 3,860 meters.

Samdo village is a small community hidden in the heart of the Himalayas that has been affected by Tibetan culture; during the Tibet conflict, this village served as a Tibetan refugee village. The villagers are hospitable and friendly. You will go across yak farms Mani walls and little streams enhance the route's beauty.

You will also see the local architecture houses built of wood and stones, which are warm and inviting on the inside. When you arrive, relax and enjoy the traditional local cuisine while admiring the breathtaking views of the Manaslu and Naike peaks.

Day 8

Trek from Samdo to Dharamshala

Don't forget to get up early to see the stunning sunrise over Manaslu and Naike Peaks. When the light reaches the mountain peaks, the sky turns blue and it appears as if someone has painted the mountain in gold, which is quite appealing and provides an excellent opportunity for photography. We'll continue our journey to Dharmasala. The distance between Samdo to Dharamshala is 6 km which will be completed in 4 to 5 hoours.

We will travel via steep, narrow ascents in harsh terrain with stones and stone-paved trails. We'll walk through the arid landscape and rocky ridges. On the route, we'll see the Larkya Glacier, which heightens our sense of adventure.

Dharamshala is also the final halt before Larkya La Pass. Once you arrive, acclimate yourself and mentally prepare for the next day's hike takes you across the Larkya La Pass at an elevation of 5000 meters.

Trek from Dharamshala to Bhimtang via Larkya La Pass

Eat breakfast early in the morning and prepare to traverse one of the world's most difficult crossings at an altitude of 5000m. The distance between Dharamshala to Bhimtang crossing Larke la pass is around 24 km which will take proper time upto 12 hours to complete the trek. As we approach the pass, we will have to navigate difficult ascents and ice trails.

At the summit, you'll be rewarded with breathtaking vistas of classic peaks such as Himlung, Cheo Himal, and Kang Guru.

Trek from Bhimtang to Tilche

Early in the morning, we will begin our walk to Tilche, which is also part of the Annapurna Circuit. You will observe people trekking along the Annapurna circuit. You can communicate with them, offer your experience, and guide them as you gain experience.

Tilche is a small town in the Manang district of Annapurna region, known for its lush green villages and the calming sound of water streams. We climb down gradually through lovely woodlands, crossing suspension bridges over glacier rivers and streams.

Day 11

Drive from Tilche to Kathmandu

After breakfast, we'll drive back to Kathmandu, where we arrived. As we begin our journey, you can say farewell to the friends you met while trekking, buy some love tokens for your friends and family, and then we will begin our journey to Kathmandu. The trip will be around 250 kilometers, and it will take about 10 hours to drive through lush green forests, terraced farmland, and, most importantly, views of the Himalayas.

On the trip, you will see how people live in their local area. You can have lunch in highway dhabas, which offer both taste and quality. Upon arriving in Kathmandu, check in to your accommodation, rest for the night, and pack for the day's departure.

Departure

Nepal is a country known for its Himalayan mountains and temples.  The Nepalese government wants everyone to visit and see Nepal, so we have visas on arrival to provide better amenities for travelers. So you'll just need to fly to Kathmandu Tribhuvan International Airport, where you may receive a visa and begin your trek. There are few exceptions for nations that do not receive visas on arrival; however, the majority of countries are welcome on visas on arrival. The cost are:

We don't have many hotel alternatives during the trek. So the lodgings during the journey are quite basic, such as tea houses, with twin-sharing rooms available. As a result, you will have to share a room with other trekkers. Tea houses have shared dining facilities, with some providing hot water and attached restrooms and others having common washrooms. To use Wi-Fi and charge your phone, you may need to pay an additional fee because you will be charging using solar energy, as some places lack enough electricity infrastructure.

Meals and drinking water during the Manaslu Circuit Trek

The food served on the trek is local and authentic. The meals you will eat will be prepared in the woods and over an open fire, giving you a true regional flavor. Tea house establishments also serve some elegant meals with a very basic taste.

Traditional Nepali meals include dal bhat, momo dumplings, thukpa (Tibetan noodles), ghudruk soup, dido, tsampa porridge, butter tea (su cha), Tingmo (steamed Tibetan bread), and Shakpa (Sherpa stew). During the walk, having a guide and porter is quite vital. A guide and porter will be assigned to you for assistance. Your guide will be properly licensed and fluent in English.
