Final Departure
The Short Annapurna Circuit Trek is a carefully designed package for those who need more vacation but want to explore the Annapurna Circuit via the most popular Thorong La Pass (5,416 m). We follow the Annapurna circuit route and fly back to Pokhara from Jomsom instead of trekking down to Pokhara.
The Annapurna Circuit short trek follows the deep valleys and canyons that continue through an anti-clockwise route behind the 50 km Annapurna massif. As we gain altitude, the lowland Hindu communities give way to the Tibetan group, and the geography changes into mountainous landscapes with magnificent views of the Annapurna ranges.
The Upper Pisang to Bagra route is very rewarding, with magnificent architecture and a mind-blowing view of Annapurna II and IV. Manang, the largest village in the region, has picture-perfect views of Gangapurna and Annapurna III. Two days of rigorous hiking to Thorong Phedi are followed by a challenging and adventurous climb to Thorong La Pass (5,416 m/17,770 ft)—a contrasting scenery. Climb down to Muktinath, a sacred place for both Hindus and Buddhists.
After exploring Muktinath's temple and revered shrines, we move down the steep and arid hillside to Kagbeni. Kagbeni and Jomsom are small medieval villages with closely packed mud houses and dark tunnels. This itinerary can be customized as per your requirements.

Best Time to Complete Annapurna Circuit Trek in Short duration
The ideal time to go on the Annapurna Circuit trek and complete it in a short period is between the pre-monsoon (spring) and post-monsoon (autumn) seasons, typically lasting from late September to November and March to May, respectively. The favorable weather during these times provides clear skies and excellent visibility for enjoying the spectacular mountain views. Spring, from March to May, is highlighted by the flowering of rhododendron woods, which adds color to the environment. The temperatures are mild, making it an excellent time for trekking. Similarly, autumn offers crisp, chilly air and consistent weather conditions from late September to November, assuring a delightful and successful trekking trip. Trekkers may see the stunning scenery, from rich terraced fields to high alpine meadows, without the inconvenience of heavy rainfall.
While the Annapurna Circuit is open during the winter months, the walk becomes difficult due to frigid temperatures, precipitation, and the possibility of high mountain crossings being closed. In contrast, the monsoon season, which lasts from June to early September, brings torrential rain, making the routes treacherous and undoubtedly dangerous for hiking. Thus, booking a visit during the spring or fall seasons is highly recommended to get the most out of the Annapurna Circuit while also ensuring a safe and fun journey. During these most suitable periods, hikers may enjoy the region's pleasant weather, colorful vistas, and overall tranquility.
Altitude Sickness during Short Annapurna Circuit Trek
Many trekkers think doing ACT Trek, in short, can be challenging due to the risk of altitude sickness. We prepare this itinerary as per our previous experience and guide suggestions. We will acclimatize at Manang to overcome this issue. As well, we will do basic yoga and training in Manang village. We will follow the standard practice and use the technique (eating, sleeping, drinking) that is used by Sherpas on people living in this area. This trek can not be completed on the mentioned days other than in the spring and autumn seasons. A minimum of two more extra days is required for other seasons.
Permit fo Annapurna Circuit Short Trek
The same permit as the Annapurna Circuit trek is required for this short annapurna trek too. So we need the ACAP (Annapurna Conservation Area Project) permit and the TIMS (Trekkers' Information Management System) card. Check out our blog related to these before going to the Annapurna Circuit trek.

Short Annapurna Circuit Trek FAQs
The Annapurna Circuit is a trek in central Nepal's mountain ranges. The entire length of the trip varies between 160 and 230 kilometers (100 and 145 miles), depending on where motor transit is deployed and where the trek ends. This trek traverses two river valleys and rounds the Annapurna Massif. The trail reaches the Tibetan plateau at its highest point, Thorung La Pass (5416 m/17769 feet). Most trekkers use the anticlockwise route since the daily altitude rise is less, and crossing the high Thorong La pass is more straightforward and safer.
The Annapurna Massif (Annapurna I-IV), Dhaulagiri, Machhapuchhre, Manaslu, Gangapurna, Tilicho Peak, Pisang Peak, and Paungda Danda may all be viewed up close. The Annapurna range gives birth to several more peaks ranging in elevation from 6000 to 8000 meters. The trek begins in the Marshyangdi river valley at Besisahar or Bhulbhule and ends at the Kali Gandaki Gorge. Besisahar is around a seven-hour journey from Kathmandu.
The walk travels through rice fields, subtropical woods, waterfalls, massive cliffs, and communities. The Annapurna Circuit was voted the best long-distance trek in the world because it combined a wide variety of climate zones from the tropics at 600 m asl to the Arctic at 5416 m asl at the Thorong La pass, as well as cultural variety from Hindu villages in the low foothills to Tibetan culture in Manang Valley and lower Mustang in its original complete form.
The ongoing road development has shortened the route and altered the settlements.
The Annapurna Circuit Trek is unique because it begins in the tropics and gradually ascends through the forests to high-altitude glacial lakes such as Ice and Tilicho. Annapurna is a Himalayan subrange. Annapurna I stands at 8,091 meters (26,538 feet), making it the world's tenth-highest peak and one of fourteen 8000-meter peaks in the Himalayas and Karakoram ranges. It runs east from the Kali Gandaki River's massive gorge through the Himalayas to the Marsyangdi River.
Yes, trekking in the Annapurna circuit is considered as safe. Many trekkers also trek alone, but we recommend you bring a guide who can brief you on all the details about that place, and as he will be local, he would save you energy and time to trek.
Two permits are required for hiking in the Annapurna Circuit. They are available at tourist offices in Pokhara and Kathmandu. The first permit is the Annapurna Conservation Permit, and the second is the Trekkers Information Management System (TIMS). However, if you wish to get a permit without any issues, we recommend getting one from our company.
You can buy or rent trekking gear in shops in Kathmandu and Pokhara. You can also purchase things on the way, as many shops on the trekking path sell the equipment and necessary stuff during the trek, but it may cost you more money.
Strategic training is essential: pack like a professional, bring altitude medication, bring appropriate footwear, bring trekking poles, and many more. We have written a detailed blog on what to pack for the trek?
Yes, trekking in the Annapurna circuit is generally safe. Many women trek alone and are fine with it, but trekking alone is dangerous for everyone, so we recommend hiking with a professional guide.
