Short Everest Base Camp Trek is a specially designed itinerary for trekkers who have limited holiday time in Nepal but still want to experience the incredible feeling of standing at the foothills of the world’s highest mountain, Mount Everest. Unlike the classic Everest Base Camp trek that usually takes around 14 days, this adventure is completed in just 8 days, making it perfect for you if you are looking for a shorter yet rewarding Himalayan journey.
What makes this trek shorter is that trekkers fly directly back to Kathmandu from Gorakshep by helicopter after completing the trek. Instead of spending several extra days trekking back to Lukla Airport, you can return to Kathmandu in just about one hour while enjoying breathtaking aerial views of the Himalayas.
In addition, the acclimatization day at Namche Bazaar is skipped, which is why this itinerary is recommended for physically fit trekkers who are comfortable walking long hours at high altitude.
Although the itinerary is shorter, you will still experience the true authenticity and adventure of the Everest region. From the thrilling flight to Lukla Airport to trekking through the beautiful trails of Sagarmatha National Park, every day is filled with unforgettable scenery and cultural experiences.
Along the trail, you will pass traditional Sherpa villages, explore monasteries, and experience the warm hospitality and unique culture of the Sherpa community.
The trek also rewards you with spectacular views of famous Himalayan peaks, including Ama Dablam, Lhotse, Nuptse, and, of course, Mount Everest itself. You will walk alongside the famous Khumbu Glacier, witness dramatic crevasses and icy landscapes, and trek all the way up to 5,364 at Everest Base Camp.
This short itinerary offers the perfect combination of adventure, mountain beauty, Sherpa culture, and Himalayan experience for travelers who want to explore the Everest region in a shorter timeframe without missing its true essence, the pride of Nepal.

In this itinerary, you will follow the classic Everest Base Camp trekking route, enjoying the breathtaking mountain scenery, traditional Sherpa villages, local culture, and ancient monasteries along the way. After reaching EBC, instead of trekking all the way back to Lukla, you will take a scenic helicopter flight directly to Kathmandu, saving several days of walking.
This short EBC trek is the perfect option for those with limited time who still want to explore the Himalayas, experience the local traditions, and witness the unforgettable beauty of the Everest region.
What is the cost to climb Everest Base Camp in a short Time?
The cost to climb Short Everest Base Camp usually costs around USD 1,200 to USD 1,500 per person. Even though the journey is completed in 8 days, the price is similar to the regular trekking package because of the helicopter return from Gorakshep to Kathmandu.
In the standard itinerary, trekkers walk back down to Lukla and take a domestic flight, which is more affordable. But in this short version, you save almost 3 to 4 trekking days by flying directly from the mountains on a helicopter. Since helicopter flights in the Khumbu region are expensive, they become the main reason behind the overall cost.
Most of the time, travelers return on a shared helicopter, where the flight cost is divided among several passengers. However, if there are not enough trekkers to form a sharing group, a private charter may be arranged, which can slightly increase the price.
Although the itinerary is shorter, the experience remains just as rewarding. You will still trek through beautiful Sherpa villages, enjoy the stunning Himalayan landscapes, witness breathtaking views of peaks like Mount Everest, and experience the adventure of reaching the base of the world’s tallest mountain. The only thing you skip is the long return walk back down the trail.
What type of cuisine is available during the short Ebc trek?
In the tea house, traditional Nepalese cuisine is served, with lots of noodles & rice. Nevertheless, most of the tea houses also offer a range on their menus, such as pizza, lasagna, burger, chips, apple pie and even a buff curry with rice.
Hot and cold drinks including beer are also served according to your order but it may not be good when you’re in high altitude. It is also better to eat something hot and light. If you overeat you will have problems while walking with a heavy stomach.
From starters, main course and dessert you will get everything in the food menu. You’ll get continental breakfast up to $2 to $7 and Nepali cuisine food up to $10 to $12.
How much weight is carried by the porter in the short Ebc trek?
During the short Ebc trek, one porter will help 2 trekkers. We prosecute the weight limits of the maximum 20kg/44lbs to 25kg per porter. So, we suggest you carry only essential trekking equipment & it should be 15kg/33lbs, not more than that.
Also, the domestic flights in Nepal only grant 15kg/33lbs by putting both luggage & backpack together. And you can store the remaining luggage in the hotel of Kathmandu which will be managed by your agent.
Which season is suitable for short Ebc trekking?
Short EBC can be done through out the year. But rainy season is not suggested. Spring and Autumn are best time to trek.

Since it is the perfect time for trekking it can be quite busy & you’ll experience many visitors in the himalayan region.
Autumn season (September to early November)
This is the season where the day will be warm & clean, the temperature falls off slightly cold. It will be an incredible journey when you trek in this season. There will be no risk of snowfall, rainfall and there will be no leeches as well. In this season, mountains will be more noticeable.
